JITNEY DUTIES & SCHEDULE
Every member of the WLBC takes a turn at running our Tuesday and Thursday Jitneys. Check the calendar below to determine your assigned night.
If you cannot perform your duties on the assigned night, please:
- find a replacement (or exchange nights with another member) and,
- let us know by sending an email
DUTIES BEFORE GAMES START:
- Be at the Club by 6:15 pm
- Open gates, Clubhouse & Bowls room (Carl has the keys)
- Set up ground sheets, mats, and jacks (on Tuesdays, play runs East-West; on Thursdays, use the North-South sheets)
- Unlock chains from rakes using keys in the Draw Room (yellow stick marked rake)
NOTE: Guests may play three evenings for free. After three nights, they must register to become a member and pay the new membership fee
- Set up recording sheet for the jitney (found in Draw Room Drawer) Write the date as well as first & last name of participants
- Collect name tags and $2 from each member participating
- Ask if the member is playing one or two draws
- Be ready to draw names for teams by 6:55 pm; start time for the jitney should be 7:00 pm
- Place drawn name tags on the board and display
- Have pencils and scorecards available for skips
WHILE THE GAME IS BEING PLAYED:
- Complete any necessary paperwork
- Monitor game progress
- Assist wherever needed
- Collect all scoresheets upon conclusion of the game
- Be sure to remind the individuals running the next jitney
- Turn outdoor lights on as necessary
UPON COMPLETION OF THE LAST GAME OF THE EVENING:
- Collect all scoresheets upon conclusion of the game
- Walk around the greens to ensure all equipment has been returned to the bowls room, rakes are locked and that no personal belongings have been left behind
- Tally up total scores and announce the evening winners (high score male, high score female and good sport)
- Place score sheets back in the drawer
- Tally and give monies collected to the Treasurer at your earliest convenience
- Ensure gates, clubhouse and bowls room are locked and lights are shut off (if you leave before members are done socializing, ensure someone will lock the clubhouse and gates)
